That's So In Style!

It’s the dream of every Barbie fan and Barbie doll collector to be able to create and design their own line of Barbie dolls. With the announcement of the new Barbie So In Style doll line, fashion designer Stacey McBride-Irby has realized that very fantasy! The Barbie So In Style dolls feature BFF's Grace (who was best friends with Barbie in Malibu before she moved to Chicago) Trichelle and Kara, who through their friendship began to mentor their younger sisters, Courtney, Janessa, and Kianna. These adorable and ethnically authentic new Barbie dolls are all about fun, friendship and fashion and each doll have a unique personality that is enhanced by their distinctive accessories like musical instruments, cameras and fab new fashions.

     

The new Barbie So In Style dolls come as a big sister/little sister package that let girls explore a positive role model theme. The sisters share accessories spotlighting each character’s social and educational interests; Barbie So In Style: Grace encourages her younger sister Courtney in cheerleading, Barbie So In Style: Tricelle and Janessa paint and shoot photos together and Barbie So In Style: Kara help Kianna explore the world of music through musical instruments. The Barbie So In Style Courtney, Janessa, and Kianna little sister dolls also come on their own with different accessories and fashions. “I want them to be examples to real girls,” says McBride-Irby, “but I wanted to make sure they had an aspirational theme also, that moms will hone in on.” Inspired by her childhood love of Barbie to create and design this special new Barbie doll line, McBride-Irby felt in order for the Barbie So In Style to genuinely be “role model” dolls, they needed to truly represent the features of the woman and girls in her community. The realistic hair, skin tones and facial features give these dolls a genuine identity and will encourage healthy interactive play.

The Most Ultra Fabulous Summer EVER!

I have so much stuff I have been "hearting" this summer, I need 2 posts to fill you in on all the divine summer activities for me and my BFF's! My Summer Haught List wouldn't be complete without these must-do's!

Camping. S’mores and scary stories? Even us luxe ladies love to rough it every now and again. Although, maybe having the most doll-lightful pink camper ever doesn’t hurt…

Totes. How does one tiny doll carry her suntan lotion, books, water bottle, toys and more? Yup: Totes.

Ponytails. Nothing says fun in the sun like a signature updo!

Summer styles. Sassy shorts. Sunny hats. Sweet shift dresses. Sigh.

Air-con theaters. Catching a blockbuster with my main squeeze is a sure way to play it cool in the heat.

Big hats. Every doll knows too much sun is bad for skin…or plastic. Covering up with a super chic hat is the most fashionable way to save face.

Roller skates. Staying in shape is always in style. So a chance to work up a sweat and create my own breeze on roller skates? Sweet!

Sophisticated soirees. Warm nights out rubbing elbows with the who’s-who make for the perfect evenings to get dolled up in my favorite couture.

Stargazing.Yes, I do a lot of stargazing in the winter months, too (read: Fashion Week, Lagerfeld shoots, celeb Malibu parties), but nothing beats looking up into a clear summer night’s sky and wishing on a star.

Hi Everybody! It's Barbie!

Hello to all my favorite gals and dolls!

Summer is one of my favorite times of year! Between lounging in the sand on the Malibu beaches to cooling off in the chicest air-con malls after a little power shopping, summer can’t be beat for soaking up the rest, relaxation and rays.  I adore it so much; I’ve even put together an exclusive little list of my very favorite things to celebrate the fun and sun of the upcoming months. So what’s on my summer A-list?

My Summer Haught List

 

Pink. What says summer like shedding the winter shades and sporting a little bit of color? From shimmery lip-gloss to sassy sandals, a hint of pink makes everything brighter. Check out some of my new summer fashions!

Pools! Every Barbie Dream House has a perfect pool just waiting for a cool dip as summer heats up. (Plus, a super fun pool toy can make a splash at even the poshest pool party, no?)

Convertibles. Preferably, pink ones. Nothing makes me feel like a doll like letting down the convertible top and feeling my hair blow in the wind.

Ice cream. Trucks. Cones. Bowls. Love. Love. Love.

Itsy bitsy teeny weenie pink Polka dot bikinis. ‘Nuff said.

Sarongs. What else feels so classic and cutting edge at the same time?

Getting crafty. From picking up a paintbrush to jotting in a journal, sometimes the best way to take off the heat is to get in touch with your artsy side.

Birthday extravaganzas. With a yearlong Barbie Fiftieth Anniversary Celebration still in the works, I’m all about the parties! Summer birthdays are always fab, and the chance to indulge in tasty treats just seals the deal.

Picnics. What’s more romantic than sipping lemonade in the shade on a warm day? Not a thing, darling.

Hitting the books. Yeah, school’s out, but lounging with a book is always in!
